【摘要】:1.1Thepurposeofthisclassificationistoprovideasingle-numberratingthatcanbeusedforcomparingbuildingfacadedesigns,includingwalls,doors,windows,andcombinationsthereof.Thisratingisdesignedtocorrelatewithsubjectiveimpressionsoftheabilityofbuildingelementstoreducetheoverallloudnessofgroundandairtransportationnoise.Itisintendedtobeusedasarankorderingdevice.1.2Theratingdoesnotnecessarilyrelatetotheperceivedaestheticqualityofthetransmittedsound.Differentfacadeelementswithsimilarratingsmaydiffersignificantlyintheproportionoflowandhighfrequencysoundthattheytransmit.Itisbesttousespecificsoundtransmissionlossvalues,inconjunctionwithactualspectraofoutdoorandindoorsoundlevels,formakingfinalselectionsoffacadeelements.1.3Excludedfromthescopeofthisclassificationareapplicationsinvolvingnoisespectradifferingmarkedlyfromthosedescribedin.Thusexcluded,forexample,wouldbecertainindustrialnoiseswithhighlevelsatfrequenciesbelowthe80Hzone-thirdoctaveband,relativetolevelsathigherfrequencies.However,foranysourcewithaspectrumsimilartothosein,thisclassificationprovidesamorereliablerankingoftheperformanceofpartitionsandfacadeelementsthandootherclassificationssuchasClassificationE413.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
