【摘要】:Thepurposeofthistestmethodistoobtaindatawhichcharacterizethesizesofliquidparticlesordropssuchasareproducedbyaspraynozzleorsimilardeviceunderspecifiedconditionsusingaspecifiedliquid.Thedropswillgenerallybeinthesizerangefrom5-mtotheorderof1000-mdiameter;theywilloccurinsprayswhichmaybeassmallasafewcubiccentimetresoraslargeasseveralcubicmetres.Typicallythenumberdensityoftheparticlescanvarysignificantlyfromonepointtoanother.Thistestmethodisintendedprimarilyforuseinstandardizingmeasurementsoftheperformanceofsprayproducingdevices.Itislimitedtothosetechniquesandinstrumentsthatoperatebypassingabeamoflightthroughthesprayandanalyzingthelightscatteredbythedropletstoderivesizeinformation.Suchtechniquesdonotproduceimagesofindividualdrops,andtherefore,areknownas"optical(nonimaging)instruments."Themeasurementsmade,whenreferredtotheentirespraybeingsampled,maybefluxsensitiveorspatial,asdefinedinPracticeE799,dependingonthetechniquesusedwithaparticularinstrument.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
